Help Develop Afghan Oilfields, Azizi Asks Russian Firm


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): The commerce and industry minister has urged a leading Russian oil producer to participate in the development of oilfields in Afghanistan.

Nooruddin Azizi met Nail Ulfatovich Maganov, chief executive officer of Tatneft - an oil and gas company headquartered in the Republic of Tatarstan

The Ministry of Commerce tweeted on Friday that Azizi his interlocutor on oil reserves in Afghanistan and invited the firm to take part in the development and oil processing.

Maganov voiced readiness to take practical steps in the direction, the ministry wrote, without giving further details.

Currently in Russia to attend the 14th in Tatarstan's capital, Azizi earlier met Turkmen minister of railways on facilitating transit cargo to Afghanistan.

Afghanistan's oil reserves are estimated at around 1.6 billion barrels and natural gas at 440 billion cubic metres.
