QPO Concert To Celebrate King Charles III Coronation

As the coronation of King Charles III draws near, the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) will be holding a special concert in celebration of the event.
“Music from the Coronation: A celebration of the Coronation of King Charles III,” will be held on May 4 at the Qatar National convention Centre (QNCC), QPO told The Peninsula.
The performance will take place two days before the actual coronation of King Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as King and Queen Consort of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms, which is scheduled to take place on May 6.
A combination of classic and modern music, including works by Handel and Walton will be played at the concert, which is being organised in collaboration with the British Embassy in Qatar.
Performers include Renchang Fu as conductor, Anton Pavlocski on cello, and Joris Laenen on trumpet.
The programme will have ten musical pieces which include: George Frideric Handel: Royal Fireworks Music, HWV 351; Vaughan Williams: Greensleeves; Franz Joseph Haydn: Concerto in D major for Violoncello, Hob.VIIb:2 – 1. Movement; Jeremiah Clarke: Trumpet Tune;William Walton: Crown Imperial (Coronation March); Gustav Holst: The Planets (Jupiter); Edward Elgar: Enigma Variations, op.36 (Nimrod); William Walton: Orb & Sceptre; George Butterworth: The Banks of Green Willow; and Edward Elgar: Pomp and Circumstance, March No.4 in G major.

The following week after the coronation concert, on May 13, QPO will hold another performance entitled“Electro Maqam: Maias Alyamani and Yahia Tello,” also at QNCC at 7:30pm.
The concert is“an entertaining journey where Arabic music magic meets the electronic world. Chill out with multitalented artists performing an exciting fusion of oriental melodies and electronic samples blending together for an exceptional evening,” said QPO.
