US Drone Encounters UFO in Middle East, Pentagon Declassifies Video
(MENAFN) The Pentagon has recently declassified a video captured by a US MQ-9 Reaper drone that encountered an unidentified flying object (UFO) while flying over the Middle East. This incident, which took place last year, marks the first encounter of its kind by an unmanned aircraft with what the military now refers to as Unexplained Anomalous Phenomena (UAP).
During a Senate hearing, Sean Kirkpatrick, the director of the Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), explained the video's contents, where he listed the characteristics of the bright and shimmering "metallic orb" that the drone had encountered. The object was described as being silver, translucent, and metallic, with an altitude ranging from 10,000 to 30,000 feet and apparent velocities varying from stationary to mach, with no thermal exhausts detected. Kirkpatrick further added that the object's behavior was "consistent with other ‘metallic orb’ observations in the region."
In the past, human observers were required for UFO sightings, as it was deemed necessary for human judgment to determine whether a craft's movement exceeded what was possible with existing technology. However, the MQ-9 Reaper's camera was able to track and follow the orb without the need for a human pilot present.
