Six Injured in Illegal Street Race Accident in Bordeaux, France

(MENAFN) According to reports from local media, a car lost control and hit a group of onlookers at an illegal street race in Bordeaux, France, resulting in six people being injured. Two of the injured were hospitalized, while the other four were reportedly taken into police custody. The incident occurred at around 11:15pm local time on Friday night and is now under investigation by the Bordeaux prosecutor's office.

Reports suggest that the injured individuals were aged between 17 and 26, with two of them, both 18 years old, said to be seriously wounded. Firefighters who arrived on the scene were cited as the source of this information by the France Bleu radio network. The prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into the matter, citing "aggravated involuntary injuries" as the cause for concern.

The location where the incident occurred was on the Rue du Professeur Darget, in a commercial area north of Bordeaux. According to authorities, a crowd had gathered to view an "unauthorized" car race "on a public road". This event was deemed illegal, and the authorities have expressed concern over the dangers it poses to both participants and onlookers.

A video of the crash has been circulating on social media, showing a vehicle approaching a bend at high speed, before mounting a curb and appearing to hit several bystanders. However, initial investigations have determined that the incident was not a deliberate act. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of illegal street races and the potential harm they can cause to innocent bystanders.
