Religious Scholars Call for Reviving Societal Role of Mosques as Cultural Incubators

Date:

(MENAFN) During a seminar organized by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs’ Department of Research and Islamic Studies, religious scholars called for transforming mosques into religious, educational, and cultural complexes that contribute to the progress of the Islamic nation in all fields. Entitled ‘cultural incubators: mosques as a model’, the seminar aimed to restore the role of the mosque as a cultural incubator in society. It brought together esteemed scholars such as Professor of Quranic Exegesis and Recitations at Qatar University (QU), Dr. Abdul Salam Al Majidi, Professor of Fiqh at Qatar University QU Dr. Turki Al Marri, and a number of imams and preachers at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.

Director of the Department of Research and Islamic Studies at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Ghanim Al Thani, hailed the mosque as the cornerstone of the Islamic civilization, the cradle of Islam, and the school of scholars and thinkers over the centuries. He stressed the importance of restoring the role of the mosque as a cultural incubator in society, highlighting the mosque's potential to contribute to the progress of the Islamic nation in various fields.

Dr. Al Majidi emphasized the mosque's role as a center of social security and the greatest place for various societal activities that build a righteous person in society. He also highlighted the mosque's historic political role as a hub for discussing the state's general policy and international relations, as well as welcoming delegations and holding negotiations.

The scholars' call for reviving the societal role of mosques as cultural incubators is timely and relevant in today's world. Mosques have traditionally been at the center of Islamic societies, not only as religious centers but also as community centers where people come together to socialize, learn, and discuss important issues. By transforming mosques into religious, educational, and cultural complexes, they can become hubs for community development, promoting social cohesion, and contributing to the progress of the Islamic nation in all fields.

The seminar is a step towards realizing this vision, bringing together scholars and experts to discuss the role of mosques in modern society. It is hoped that the insights and recommendations from this seminar will be implemented, and mosques will once again become cultural incubators that contribute to the progress of the Islamic nation in all fields.
