OIC Chief Echoes Condemnation Of Israeli Scheme To Wipe Out Al-Quds Identity

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH, April 8 (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hasan Taha on Saturday reiterated the organization's emphatic disapproval and denunciation of all Israeli Occupation policies and measures purposed to alter the identity of Al-Aqsa Al-Shareef (Jerusalem).
Taha made the remark during an open-ended extraordinary meeting of the OIC Executive Committee, held at the invitation of Palestine and Jordan on the continued aggression by Israel on the holy city.
He added that the holy city is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territory and the capital of the State of Palestine, and that Al-Aqsa Mosque in its entirety, is the exclusive place of worship for Muslims.
He noted that the meeting came at a time when conditions in the city and its Islamic holy sites were deteriorating in the aftermath of escalation of blatant Israeli violations and attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The OIC chief described these Israeli attacks as a flagrant violation of the sanctity of holy sites, freedom of worship, as well as the Geneva Convention and relevant United Nations resolutions.
Furthermore, he sounded the alarm about any attempt to obliterate the historical and legal status of the Islamic and Christian holy sites, especially Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Taha also held the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for the implications of these serious crimes and violations which could stoke violence, tension, instability and insecurity in the region.
He concluded his speech by reaffirming that all Israeli decisions and policies aimed at changing the geographical, demographical standing of the holy city and undermining the historical and legal status of its holy sites are of no legal effect, null and void as per international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
