Reynoldsburg, OH – The Allegheny West Provisional Annual Conference (AWAC) of the Global Methodist Church officially launched on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Annual Conferences of the Global Methodist Church are formed for the purpose of connecting clergy and congregations for shared ministry and accountability across a geographic region. The Allegheny West region includes all of Ohio and the Western third of Pennsylvania.

“These are exciting days,” said Rev. Dr. Jeff Greenway, President Pro-Tempore.“It's important to remember: the goal has never been disaffiliation. The goal has never been affiliation. The goal has never been launching a provisional Annual Conference. This is about much more than changing the name on the front of our church buildings. In fact, if that's all we do, it won't fix what has made many of our churches sick unto death. Our goal is to move forward as like-minded, warm-hearted, Spirit-filled, Jesus-loving, evangelical, orthodox Wesleyan Christians committed to offering the whole Gospel to the whole world. Friends, this journey is about rediscovering a distinctively Wesleyan Way of being church. We want to be a movement of disciples who make disciples who make disciples.”

More than 150 churches in the West Allegheny region have already either joined the Global Methodist Church or are in final stages of becoming member congregations. We anticipate over 300 churches will have joined our Conference by the end of summer. The conference will hold its convening gathering of member churches and clergy in mid-October.
The officers of AWAC are as follows:

Rev. Dr. Jeff Greenway (Reynoldsburg, OH) – President Pro Tempore
Rev. Dr. Chet Harris (Navarre, OH) - Vice President Pro Tempore
Rev. Gregory Stover (Lake Waynoka, OH) – Dean of the Presiding Elder Cabinet
Rev. Janet Lord (Pittsburgh, PA) - Secretary

Additional leaders in the Conference Council include clergy and laypeople from Ohio and Western Pennsylvania churches of the Global Methodist Church. The Council guides the Conference spiritual, financial, and organizational leadership. Leaders are also actively onboarding churches and reviewing applications and credentialing of clergy as they join the Global Methodist Church.
