Russia Does Not Control Bakhmut, But Situation Is Complicated - Zelensky

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Russian invaders do not control Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, but the situation there is the most complicated along the frontline.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said this during a joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Warsaw, answering a question from an Ukrinform correspondent.

"We are in Bakhmut and the enemy does not control Bakhmut. This is the situation for today," Zelensky said.

He underlined that the most complicated situation throughout Ukraine is currently in Bakhmut, where the largest number of weapons, including artillery, is being used.

Zelensky mentioned that General Oleksandr Syrskyi is in charge of the operational situation in the town and, according to him, the main goal for the general is to keep the personnel.

"The most important thing for me is not to lose our military, and if there is a moment of even hotter events and if we may lose personnel due to encirclement, the general will certainly make corresponding decisions on the spot," Zelensky added.

At the same time, the president emphasized that the sooner Ukraine receives weapons from partners, the sooner Ukrainian soldiers will be able to fight back not only in Bakhmut but also elsewhere.

As reported, the Ukrainian president and his wife pay an official visit to Poland on April 5.

Polish President Andrzej Duda has awarded President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky with Poland's highest decoration , the Order of the White Eagle.

Besides a meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda, Zelensky is also scheduled to meet with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, business representatives, Ukrainians and Poles at the Royal Castle.
