US Confirms Abduction Of Two US Citizens In Haiti


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, March 30 (KUNA) - Principal Deputy Spokesperson of US Department of State Vedant Patel on Thursday confirmed that two US citizens have been abducted in Haiti, without any further updates.
In a press briefing, Patel said "I can confirm the kidnapping of two US citizens in Haiti" to add that, "We are in regular contact with Haitian authorities and we'll continue to work with them and our US government interagency partners."
"Our embassies and consulates abroad have no greater priority" at this time than to guarantee the safety and security of US citizens abroad.
CNN broadcasted earlier the kidnapping in Haiti of two American citizens in their thirties, with a ransom to be meet in accordance with their release as gang violence continues to threaten the security of the poorest country in the western hemisphere. (end)
