(MENAFN) During the past Iranian calendar year 1401 (ended on March 20), the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) completed the digging operation of 99 oil and gas wells, consisting of 15 development, five exploratory, and 79 workover wells, according to Masoud Afshar, the deputy head of NIDC for drilling operation. Of the wells drilled, 77 were in the operational zone of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC), eight were in fields under the supervision of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC), eight were in fields under the operation of the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC), two were for a project, and four were in the operational zone of the drilling management department of National Iranian Oil company (NIOC). Over 67,000 meters of drilling were conducted for the mentioned wells.
Afshar announced that comprehensive planning has been done to speed up drilling operations, and with the reconstruction and modernization of drilling machines and equipment, the company is expected to use more drilling machines in the oil-rich areas of the country. He also stated that 63 of the 73 light, heavy, and extra-heavy drilling rigs in the company's fleet are in operation or being moved, with 20 rigs being moved.
Hamidreza Golpayegani, the head of NIDC, declared the company's infrastructure improvement as its most significant achievement in the past year, in line with the programs of the Oil Ministry. Speaking at the company's annual board meeting, Golpayegani noted the significant improvement in NIDC's performance in various operational, technical, engineering, support, services, and headquarters departments in the previous year compared to the preceding two years. According to the statistics of the planning department, the productivity index of the company reached 62 percent in the past year, an improvement from 48 percent in 1400, Golpayegani said.
NIDC's completion of 99 oil and gas wells in 2022 highlights its potential for contributing to Iran's oil and gas industry.
