Qatar Charity Signs Three Agreements For Humanitarian Projects In Sudan
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Charity (QC) has signed three agreements for humanitarian projects in Sudan. The first, a co-operation agreement with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) for the integrated humanitarian response for vulnerable communities in the Blue Nile State of Sudan, was signed in the presence of Qatar's ambassador to Sudan Mohamed bin Ibrahim al-Sada.
The other two are technical agreements with the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) to implement projects in the field of water and education in the country.
QC, through the agreement signed with IRC, is keen to support the health system and provide integrated services to the vulnerable communities most affected by conflict in the Blue Nile State.
Mana al-Ansari, Field Offices Affairs Department manager, said QC is always ready to assist international organisations in such important projects. He also said QC attaches significant attention to water and sanitation programmes.
Eatizaz Yousif, the IRC Sudan country manager, praised the partnership with QC and described it as a good start for other partnerships to cover wider regions in Sudan and enable IRC to provide and develop services in the fields of health, water and sanitation, rehabilitation, and the improvement of conditions in the region.
She noted that QC's funding will help provide a mobile clinic to support the health team in the region to expedite the provision of services to the communities most in need.
The technical agreement signed by QC with the Humanitarian Aid Commission in Khartoum includes the drilling of 17 water wells in the areas that suffer most from drought in South Kordofan State. The second technical agreement relates to the safe return to school project, which contains the construction of 25 educational facilities and 100 units and a project in the field of water and sanitation, in addition to providing school bags and aids for students, and 89 coolers to provide drinking water in the targeted schools.
Dr Najm al-Din Moussa, Sudan humanitarian aid commissioner, praised QC's great support in the humanitarian and development sectors, noting that that they are in the process of implementing large projects with QC during the next stage.
Al-Ansari, reviewed, during his recent visit to Sudan, the progress of work on many development and humanitarian projects implemented by QC in the fields of health, education, water, and sanitation, including the Taiba Educational City for orphans and Al-Attiyah Hospital in Omdurman, which is expected to be completed before the end of this year.
