São Paulo – Brazil 's Ministry of Foreign Affairs made public a statement on Wednesday (22) reporting that it will send humanitarian assistance to Syria . The Arab country was hit by earthquakes that caused death and destruction earlier this month. Turkey was also hit by the disaster and received assistance from the Brazilian government. The ministry reported that the donation is taking place“as decided by the president of the Republic Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in humanitarian response to the earthquakes that took place on Feb. 2 across different regions of Syria and Turkey.”

According to the ministry, Syria will be given 65 water purifiers manufactured in Brazil, accompanied by a solar kit to ensure energy autonomy.
