Fans arrested after brawl following football match in Sharjah

(MENAFN) On Friday, football fans witnessed an intense match between Sharjah FC and Khor Fakkan in the Adnoc Pro League. The match ended in a dramatic last-minute win for Khor Fakkan when Aylton Filipe's header secured three points for the team. Although Sharjah came close to finding an equalizer just minutes later, goalkeeper Adel Al Hosani saved Caio Lucas's long-range shot.

However, the excitement on the pitch was marred by the violent behavior of some fans after the match. Sharjah Police reported that several fans got into a brawl and were subsequently arrested. The details of what led to the brawl were not disclosed.

In a statement released on social media, Sharjah Police confirmed that they had taken the necessary measures to deal with the situation. They also stated that the arrested fans had signed a pledge not to repeat their acts of public disorder and were subsequently released.

This is not the first time that football-related violence has occurred in the UAE. In 2016, an incident occurred during an Al Ain and Al Ahli match, leading to a ban on away fans. However, this ban was lifted in 2018, allowing fans to attend matches in any stadium.

Football is one of the most popular sports in the UAE, and the Adnoc Pro League attracts a lot of attention from fans across the country. However, incidents like this are concerning and highlight the importance of maintaining a peaceful and safe environment for all fans.

The authorities in the UAE have consistently worked to promote a safe environment for fans, and they continue to stress the importance of responsible behavior at all times. While such incidents are unfortunate, it is reassuring to know that the authorities take the necessary measures to ensure that the situation is dealt with appropriately.

Fans should always be aware that their actions can have serious consequences and that they should behave in a responsible and respectful manner. It is hoped that such incidents will be few and far between, and that fans can continue to enjoy football matches in a safe and peaceful environment.
