Iran needs to expand its growth in flowers shipment through Persian Gulf states market

(MENAFN) The market of Persian Gulf littoral states is a positive chance for Iran to ship flowers as well as ornamental plants.

The shipment of flowers and ornamental plants has a high further worth for the nation, and if the flower producers have backing from the administration, they can grow massively in the market of the Persian Gulf nation.

Iran is at 17th spot across the whole world in the output of flowers and ornamental plants, but it is at 107th spot in terms of shipment.

Year on year, three billion flowers and ornamental plants are outputted in the nation, of which just 300 million are shipped. 50 percent of the outputted flowers are sold locally and the rest goes to waste.

According to the chairman of the Flower Retailers' Association of Tehran, flowers and ornamental plants intake per capita in Iran is 20, whereas the number is 150 to 250 across the whole world.

“We must have mass production to reduce the price of flowers”, Gholam-Hossein Soltan-Mohammadi has asserted.
