Ambassador: Iran carries on to back Iraq despite blames
(MENAFN) Iranian envoy to Iraq Mohammad Kazem Al Sadeq has assured the backing of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Iraq, in spite of the attempts of some sides to distort believes and mislead public view on the matter of the reduction of the Iraqi currency versus the U.S. dollar.
“The Islamic Republic will remain the primary supporter of Iraq's development, stability and progress, despite its exposure to false accusations. Accusations aimed at diverting public opinion from the main cause of the dollar price crisis,” Al Sadeq published on Twitter, as reported by Al Alam on Saturday.
The tweet comes on contradiction of a backdrop of heated arguments in Iraq around the drop of the worth of the Iraqi currency in comparison with the U.S. dollar. Some media outlets have accused the depreciation of the Iraqi currency on Iran, something that Iran denies.
Al Sadeq has lately gathered Iraqi Finance Minister Taif Sami to talk about methods to improve realtions among Tehran and Baghdad.
The gathering occurred at the Iraqi finance ministry.
“At the beginning of the meeting, Mrs. Taif Sami welcomed the ambassador, indicating the depth of the close bilateral relations that bind Iraq and Iran,” the Iraqi finance ministry asserted in an announcement.
