Iran carries on backing Iraq even with allegations
(MENAFN) Iranian Ambassador to Iraq Mohammad Kazem Al Sadeq has repeated the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Iraq, regardless of the efforts of some groups to change facts and mislead public opinion on the subject of the devaluation of the Iraqi currency against the greenback.
“The Islamic Republic will remain the primary supporter of Iraq's development, stability and progress, despite its exposure to false accusations. Accusations aimed at diverting public opinion from the main cause of the dollar price crisis,” Al Sadeq shared on Twitter, Al Alam announced on Saturday.
The tweet comes against a backdrop of heated discussions in Iraq over the decrease of the value of the Iraqi currency against the US dollar. Some media agencies have accused the devaluation of the Iraqi currency on Iran, something that Iran refuses.
Al Sadeq has lately assembled with Iraqi Finance Minister Taif Sami to talk over ways to improve relations between Tehran and Baghdad.
The conference was held at the Iraqi finance ministry.
“At the beginning of the meeting, Mrs. Taif Sami welcomed the ambassador, indicating the depth of the close bilateral relations that bind Iraq and Iran,” the Iraqi finance ministry also declared.
