All parks in Sharjah city will be temporarily closed due to unstable weather conditions, the municipality announced on Saturday.

'Parks will be open again to the public after the end of unstable weather,' the authority said in an advisory.

The Sharjah Municipality also urged residents to follow all traffic regulations and exercise extra caution on roads during this period.

For any emergencies, the emirate's residents may dial 993. All teams are fully prepared to respond to any untoward incidents, the authority added.

A top official said more than 110 water tanks and 80 pumps were on stand-by to ensure that waterlogged roads are immediately cleared. As soon as the rain started pouring, teams got to work.

Residents across the UAE woke up to light showers on Saturday morning. Dark clouds hovered as rain got heavier across emirates. Traffic came to a crawl in Dubai and Sharjah, as motorists slowed down due to a drop in visibility.
