China, Russia Conclude Joint Naval Exercise


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TOKYO, Dec 27 (KUNA) -- Chinese and Russian navies concluded a seven-day joint exercise Tuesday in the East China Sea, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.
The drill, conducted in waters off China's Zhejiang Province since December 21, was in accordance with the annual cooperation schedule between the two militaries, the report said. In the 'Joint Sea 2022,' the two navies completed operations covering measures including blockade and control, rescue, anti-submarine and air defense.
According to the Chinese navy, the exercise was intended to demonstrate the determination and capability of the two sides to jointly respond to maritime security threats and maintain international and regional peace and stability, and promote the innovative development of bilateral naval cooperation from a higher point and to a higher level. The Chinese participating vessels included destroyers, frigates, a submarine, while the Russian Navy was represented by a missile cruiser, a frigate and corvettes.
Since 2012, the series of China-Russia 'Joint Sea' exercises have become a stable cooperation platform and communication channel for the two navies to elevate strategic mutual trust, enhance traditional friendship, and improve the capability of joint maritime operations, the Chinese navy said.
