Sixty-Seven Iranian Drones Shot Down In Ukraine Since Early December

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) In December, Ukrainian troops downed 67 Iranian-made Shahed kamikaze drones.

'After a pause, we have downed 67 UAVs of this type since December 7. So we may assume that it is already the new batch that [Russians] received,' Yuriy Ihnat, Spokesperson for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said at a briefing in the Media Center Ukraine-Ukrinform.

Ihnat noted that the Russian Federation shares a common sea with Iran so the supply of drones to the Russian Federation can continue without problems both by sea and by air.

The Spokesperson said that drones are launched from another location now. 'Earlier, it was the occupied Crimea and Kherson region. Now they have already moved the launch points - this is the Krasnodar Territory - the eastern coast of the Sea of Azov,' Ihnat said. According to him, the Russian Federation uses Shahed drones mainly between 23:00 and 05:00 because the enemy realized that their drones can be shot down with small arms and machine guns during the day.

According to Ihnat, 127 Shahed drones and 300 cruise missiles were launched to attack Ukraine in November and December.

As reported, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said that Ukraine is waiting for the United Nations to send a mission to study Russia's use of Iranian drones, but the UN has not yet taken any steps for this. Kuleba emphasized that the supply of Iranian-made drones to Russia violates the UN Security Council resolution of 2015 on the nuclear agreement with Iran.
