GRSIA President: National Day Renews Feelings Of Solidarity, Loyalty And Pride

Doha: President of the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority (GRSIA) H E Turki bin Mohammed Al Khater underlined that the occasion of the National Day renews feelings of solidarity, loyalty and pride, and recalls the march of the unity of the State and the realisation of its slogan“Our Unity, Source of Our Strength”.

In an exclusive statements to QNA on the occasion of Qatar National Day, Al Khater said that the year 2022 saw many qualitative shifts in the fields of development and modernisation, pointing to the most important developments in this regard, most notably the Amiri decision securing a minimum pension (not less than QR15,000) and providing a special allowance of QR4,000 for all retirees, which reflects the keenness of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to secure a decent life for retirees and their families.

He indicated that the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority is aware of the size of its responsibility towards the country and the citizen, and seeks to be an effective model that expresses the goals and messages of the national vision, starting from identifying challenges and setting strategies, to achieving goals and realizing objectives, stressing the Authority's continuous endeavour to reform to keep pace with the necessities of life, and to provide protection risks of death, disability and old age.

Al Khater noted that the vision and foresight presented by the rational and wise leadership for a promising future full of development achievements in all fields, in addition to hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, made Qatar a name that the whole world looks at with appreciation and admiration.

He pointed out that all these indicators confirm that the future is promising, and that Qatar is continuing on the path of development as before with the help of its loyal sons, and with the concerted efforts of all, and their cohesion with the sincere leadership.

With regard to the achievements of the General Retirement and Social Security Authority in the investment aspect, he explained that the estimated reports until December 2021 showed that the value of the funds investments amounted to approximately QR113bn for the civil and military pension funds, as most of the funds investments within the State of Qatar came by 99.4%, bringing the value of insurance expenditures during 2021 to more than 6 billion Qatari riyals.

He pointed out that the statistics of those subject to the Civil Retirement and Pension Law showed that the number of active subscribers reached 79,586, of whom 83% work in government agencies and 17% work in non-governmental agencies. Females represent 57%, while males represent 43%.

As for the insurance protection extension system, he indicated that the total number of Qataris working in the Arab Gulf countries covered by the protection amounted to 27 citizens, and the total number of Gulf nationals working in the State of Qatar and subject to the same system is 2,365 Gulf nationals, of whom (64%) work in the government sector.

With regard to the development of institutional performance, he said that the General Authority for Retirement and Social Security has paid great attention to improving and developing the services it provides, by preparing guides that contribute to improving institutional performance.

Al Khater indicated that the most prominent completed projects for the year 2022 were represented by the open data policy guide project, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, to serve as an electronic guide that allows the exchange of government information and data for beneficiaries at the state level.
