Coimbatore Industries Propose District As Venue For G-20 Meeting

Almost 10 industry associations in Coimbatore have agreed to urge the state and the central government to host several G-20 meetings in the district next year.

They will soon represent this to the respective governments, reported The Hindu.

Chairman of Southern India Mills' Association, Ravi Sam highlighted that it is not 20 countries but heads and delegations from nearly 45 countries who will visit India for the meetings.

He called it a big opportunity for the manufacturing industries in all the western districts of the State.

If Coimbatore is a host to one of the G-20 meetings, Sam said the region can showcase its strengths and traditions in textiles and clothing.
