UK acknowledges providing Ukraine with cutting-edge weaponry

(MENAFN) In defiance of Moscow's repeated warnings about the possibility of sparking a direct conflict between NATO and Russia, the United Kingdom Defense Ministry has confirmed that Britain is providing Ukraine with cutting-edge laser-guided Brimstone 2 missiles.

On Sunday, the ministry shared a video clip on Twitter that showed the delivery of at least one pallet of the highly accurate missiles from the Oxfordshire-based Brize Norton Royal Air Force base to an unnamed airfield. According to the ministry, the missiles were a part of a United Kingdom "aid package" for Ukraine, confirming earlier media reports that such deliveries had been occurring for some time. According to the ministry's tweet, “this aid has played a crucial role in stalling Russian advancements.”

According to reports, United Kingdom military started giving Ukraine older models of the Brimstone missile last spring. The Brimstone 2 has almost three times the range of its predecessor and is far more sophisticated. It is made to be fired from an aircraft to strike ground targets. The missile, nevertheless, has been employed by Ukrainian ground forces on modified trucks to primarily target tanks and other armored vehicles.
