US Congress Delegation Seeks To Strengthen Ties In Baghdad


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, Nov 25 (KUNA) -- A delegation from the US Congress discussed with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Sudani ways to strengthen relations between both sides and the war against terrorism.
The delegation, led by Democratic Rep. Mark Takano - the Chair of the House Veterans' Affairs Committee, reviewed with Al-Sudani the relations between Iraq and the US, according to a statement released by the prime minister's office on Friday.
Both sides discussed the course of the war on terrorism and the performance of the Iraqi forces in prosecuting the so-called Islamic State (ISIS).
They explored ways to enhance bilateral ties and partnership in accordance with the strategic framework agreement in various fields, foremost of which is cooperation in facing climate changes and efforts to confront water scarcity.
Al-Sudani expressed the importance of the relationship with the US and Iraq's endeavor to confirm a balanced relationship with its regional and international surroundings, in a way that preserves the national sovereignty of Iraq and supports the stability and security of the region. (end)
