U.S. National Security Advisor Sullivan Pays Visit To Ukraine

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) United States National Security Advisor to President Joe Biden Jake Sullivan has arrived in Ukraine and met with the Ukrainian military and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

Sullivan was briefed on the situation on the battlefield, the implementation of the grain deal, and Russian attacks on critical infrastructure.

The relevant statement was made by Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak during a joint briefing with U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“There was a very wide range of issues. I am very pleased with this meeting. I am glad to welcome Mr. Sullivan to Ukraine. I think this is another signal, a very powerful signal, that we are on the right path and moving towards our victory,” Yermak said.

In his words, Sullivan had the opportunity to communicate with the Ukrainian military, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and commanders from different areas, as well as to meet President Zelensky.

“We talked about providing air defense systems to Ukraine as soon as possible – it is extremely important to us. We also touched on the issue of exchanging our prisoners,” Yermak noted.

Additionally, the parties discussed the continuation of sanctions policy against Russia.

“The United States is our major partner, providing the biggest support to us. Today we have once again received confirmation of its unwavering support for Ukraine until our victory. Our friends, our partners are with us. They fully understand our situation, they support us, they are also working on the consolidation of our other partners. This is important on the eve of the G20 meeting,” Yermak stressed.

A reminder that the United States Department of Defense announced approximately $400 million in additional security assistance for Ukraine under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI).
