Doha: Qatar University's (QU) College of Pharmacy, a member of QU Health, organised the 16th White Coat Ceremony, and the 11th Annual Dean's List Ceremony.
The Annual White Coat Ceremony celebrates students' transition from the foundation stage to their specialization in pharmacy and to emphasise student's commitment to the values pharmacy. Around 53 students participated in the ceremony including four Qataris, Rodha Al Thani, Sara Al Kubaisi, Zainab Al Mohsin and Abdulaziz Al Khalaf.
The Dean's List ceremony aims to celebrate outstanding students in the College of Pharmacy who placed on the Dean's List by achieving a GPA of 3.5 or above. During the ceremony, the Annual Ebn Sina Awards to the highest achieving students was also announced, for each year as well as students in post-graduate studies.
It is also important to note that 126 students placed on the Dean's List, 11 of whom are Qatari: Abdulaziz Al Khalaf, Asma Bugaloof, Jawaher Abdullah, Mariam Al Kaabi, Mariam Al Yafei, Muneera Al Hajri, Reem Al Saleh, Sarah Al Qattan, Sara Al Kubaisi, Sara Al Kaabi, and Zainab Al Mohsin.

In a statement, H E Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatari Businessmen Association said,“My sons and daughters, it is my pleasure to congratulate you on this day, in which you receive your white coats, which represents the starting point in your career. Qatar University will provide you with the necessary experience to have a prominent role in society and a noble profession. I also congratulate the parents and faculty members and wish you all the success.”
Director of Clinical Operations and Engagement, Alla El Awaisi speaking on behalf of the Vice President for Health and Medical Sciences, Dr. Asma Al Thani said,“We are pleased to be here in this combined ceremony celebrating students who received their white coats and students who achieved placement on the Dean's List. Congratulations on your arrival at this important stage. The white coat is a symbol of your professional commitment to patients and you will celebrate many white coats as you embark on your academic and professional journeys. However, each stage remains a symbol of your responsibility towards the needs of the community. We also express our sincere appreciation to our partners at Hamad Medical Corporation, Primary Health Care Corporation, Sidra Medicine, the Ministry of Public Health and other parties in the health care sector who have contributed to the training and development of our students.”
In his speech Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Feras Alali expressed his pleasure at sharing with parents and students the joy of celebrating the wearing of white coats, marking a new stage in the students' academic journeys, as well as the outstanding students on the Dean's List. Dr. Feras noted that the College of Pharmacy has had a noticeable and effective impact on the community and the health sector. The College of Pharmacy Dean also touched on the most important and recent achievements and developments of the College during the past year.
