Kuwait Parliament Begins Session To Examine A Lengthy Agenda


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Nov 1 (KUNA) -- Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Mohammad Al-Mutair on Tuesday inaugurated the scheduled regular session to examine bills including endorsement of state departments and authorities' budgets.
The session agenda features minutes' endorsement, examining complaints, and the Amiri Speech marking inauguration of the recent first regular session of the National Assembly for its 17th legislative term.
MPs are scheduled to proceed with proposed formation of parliamentary panels, including the suggestion to set up a commission for distribution of industrial plots and assigning the public funds protection committee to probe irregularities with respect of the industrial zones and their distribution.
They will also look into reports by the committee of budgets and the final account, bills allotting the budgets of affiliate and government departments, the independent bodies and the ministries for the fiscal year 2022-2023, in addition to a pack of miscellaneous reports.
One of the bills on the legislators' table is amending the National Assembly by-law, another to replace the term 'domestic worker' with 'maid,' as stipulated in relevant laws, in addition to draft laws regarding imports and government bonds.
Moreover, the agenda includes a term regarding reports of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee, along with bills for approving agreements, documents, memos, protocols of understanding between the government of the State of Kuwait with others states' governments, or with international and European associations in various realms.
Also on the table in today's session is a term concerning the Audit Bureau reports.
The National Assembly, at its session on Tuesday, decided in coordination with the government to adjourn examining the budgets bills to today. (end)
