Ukrainian Forces Down Over 300 Shahed-136 Kamikaze Drones Since Sept 13

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Ukrainian armed forces have shot down more than 300 Shahed-136 kamikaze drones since September 13.

Yurii Ihnat, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force Command, said this at a briefing at the Ukraine-Ukrinform media Center.

'Since September 13, when the first Shahed-136 kamikaze drone was shot down in Kupiansk, Kharkiv region, until today we have more than 300 downed Shahed-136 kamikaze drones,' Ihnat said.

According to him, now the enemy is making certain breaks in using such drones.

'The enemy uses them in waves. Obviously, not every day, because there are certain factors, some operational strategic tasks that he sets himself as a goal. It is clear that this is, first of all, the exhaustion of our air defenses. The enemy sees the result, and it is clear that he monitors how these kamikaze drones cope, sees that we destroy them, looks for new tactical methods for their use, in particular, using precisely the night time, very often - from midnight to two o'clock in the morning, when these drones can only be shot down by weapons with radar systems,' Ihnat said.

He said the enemy had begun to use drones less often, possibly due to the fact that earlier there were more of them available.

Currently, according to him, it is not clear for sure how many Shahed-136 drones Russia has received from Iran. The state leadership earlier reported that 2,400 of these UAVs had been ordered, but it is not known whether there is the ability to manufacture them in such a quantity, he said.
