Xavi resigns himself to fact that his team are not on same level

(MENAFN) After Bayern Munich defeated Barcelona 3-0 at Camp Nou in the Champions League, manager Xavi Hernandez has accepted that his club is not on the same level as continental powerhouses like Bayern Munich.

Before the game on Wednesday night even started, the Catalans already knew their fate. Inter Milan's 4-0 home victory over Viktoria Plzen in Group C meant that Barcelona had no chance of making it past the group stage and would instead be condemned to the lower-tier UEFA Europa League for a second consecutive season.

While competing for dignity against the German champions, Barca was outmatched by a Bayern team that had recently defeated them six times. Xavi admitted, “today we have not reached their level, they have been better.”

It added, “in Munich it was us, but today they have been better, more intense. The elimination affected us psychologically. Tomorrow, we train and think about La Liga.”
