Iran opens embassy in Kapan, Armenia


(MENAFN) Throughout his significant visit to Armenia, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian opened Iran’s new embassy general in Kapan.

During the launch of the embassy general in Syunik Province, Amir Abdollahian announced he is sure that the diplomats present at Iran’s mission in Kapan will have the full backing of the welcoming government of the Republic of Armenia.

He also uttered Iran’s willingness to work together with Armenia to open Yerevan’s embassy general in the city of Tabriz.

“The decision of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to establish a consulate general in Kapan shows the depth of the long-standing and historical relations between the people of Armenia and Iran,” Iran’s chief diplomat went on to say.

He then declared that Iran sees the security of Armenia as “the security of the region.”

The foreign minister continued, “Our policy is to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia.”
