UK Imposes Sanctions On Iran Over Supply Of Drones To Russia

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The UK government has announced the introduction of sanctions against Iran for supplying Russia with Iranian-produced drones that are used in Russia's war against Ukraine. That's according to , Ukrinform reports.
Among the three individuals being sanctioned is military officer Sayed Hojjatollah Qureishi, seen as the key negotiator in the drone deal.
Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri – the Chief of Staff of Iran's armed forces – and Brigadier General Saeed Aghajani – the Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps - Aerospace Force (IRGC ASF) UAV Command – have also been sanctioned.

Shahed Aviation Industries – the Iranian manufacturer of the Shahed drones which have been used by Russia during its illegal invasion of Ukraine – has also been sanctioned. Shahed Aviation Industries is subject to an asset freeze.
'Iran's support for Putin's brutal and illegal war against Ukraine is deplorable. Today we are sanctioning those who have supplied the drones used by Russia to target Ukrainian civilians. This is clear evidence of Iran's destabilizing role in global security,' said UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly.
The European Union earlier sanctioned Iran for supplying Russia with attack drones.
