Czech Army deploy over 300 soldiers to border between two EU nations
(MENAFN) More than 300 troops from the Czech Army have been stationed at the Slovakian border in an effort to stem the flow of unauthorized immigrants. The authorities noted the record number of visitors entering the nation, many of whom were from Syria.
In accordance with a statement from the military, they are going to help law enforcement in the South Moravian, Zlin, and Moravian-Silesian areas with border inspections beginning on Sunday and continuing as long as temporary border protection measures are in place.
Military reported, “a total of 320 soldiers of the armed forces of the Czech Republic will be prepared, who will be deployed in 4 rotations. These are soldiers from ground forces units, who will be supplemented by members of the active reserve. Soldiers will perform tasks in joint patrols.”
Late in September, Prague reinstated temporary border controls in response to an increase in the number of migrants, primarily Syrians and principally from Turkey. The government stated earlier this week that border security measures is going to be extended for a further 20 days, until late October.
