Mevlut Cavusoglu: US should know Türkiye's significance

(MENAFN) One “thank you” from the US falls far short of knowing Türkiye's remarkable significance for Washington, on the words of the nation’s chief diplomat on Saturday.

Referring to the historic grain agreement inked this July in Istanbul, which released Ukrainian exports to the world, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stated: "In foreign policy areas, when we look at US priorities, Türkiye remains not one of the most important actors, but the most important actor. So the US should not belittle Türkiye's importance by just saying 'the grain deal is done, thank you’."

Clearing hurdles and talking over disputes between both nations benefits the two sides, Cavusoglu updated members of the Turkish American community in Los Angeles, California.

Turning to the Türkiye-US Strategic Mechanism founded last October, he declared the two countries should resolve problems, and boost collaboration, which he stated "is the goal.”

"We need to take concrete steps too," he went on.
