DOHA: The Center of Empowerment and Elderly Care (Ehsan), one of the centers under the wing of the Qatar Social Work foundation, which operates under the umbrella of the Ministry of Social Development and the Family, organized an e-learning program, which is being held for the seventh year in a row in cooperation with Qatar Assistive technology Center (Mada).

This year's program is dedicated to training the elderly on important smart device applications.

The training workshop was organized for a number of elderly men and women on the google Map application, in order to enable them to know how to get around by making use of the program search feature, and how to remotely seek and request their needs: facilitating the provision of their needs, and enhancing their independence and self-reliance.

The e-learning program will also include two training workshops during the month of October in cooperation with the Qatar delivery company Snoonu, where 50 elderly women will be trained on the company's application, in order to facilitate the provision of a variety of their needs remotely.

The Head of Design and Preparation Department at the center Zainab Al Kuwari, stressed the center's keenness over the past seven years to diversify its programs and to ensure that the largest number of elderly benefited from the workshops, leading to an increase in the number of registrants and the turnout.

Al Kuwari explained that Ehsan always seeks to select programs that benefit the elderly, hence came forward the coordination with Mada and Snoonu to train the elderly on Google Map and Snoonu.

Al Kuwari added that this year's e-learning program kicked off in mid-September and will end in mid-October, aiming at training the largest possible number of elderly people on these important applications.

It is worth noting that the e-learning program aims, within its general framework, to facilitate the use of technology for the elderly, making them benefit from modern technologies and integrating them into their lives.

This comes within the framework of Ehsan's efforts to enhance the recognition of the role of the elderly and their contributions to social, economic and cultural development in Qatar.

Ehsan works on empowering the elderly, supporting their active participation in all fields, spreading societal awareness of their basic rights and issues, and working to achieve intergenerational communication.
