BPS Organises Spell Casters' Inter-School Competition

Doha: Birla Public School (BPS) has organised the first-ever BPS Spell Casters' Inter-School Competition in all its campuses for grades 1 to 12. 

The Vice-Chairperson, Maria Thomas, the Chief Guest and Lead Supervisory Judge, appreciated the efforts of all the contestants and motivated them to enhance their literary skills and nurture their vocabulary skills to develop a good command over English language.

Smrithi Haridasan, Student Cultural Secretary, welcomed the gathering of eminent dignitaries including Maria P Thomas, Vice-Chairperson, Harish Sanduja, Academic Director-Principal, Vice-Principals Edna Fernandez and Rajesh Pillai, Lakshmi Devi, HOD English, contestants, teachers and parents.

The Champion Spellers from 12 to 14 schools across Qatar, who had won the preliminary round conducted in their schools as an Intra School Spell Bee competition, participated in the BPS Spell Casters' Inter School Competition. The contestants were divided into four categories; Primary 1 & 2, Primary 3 to 5, Middle Section 6 to 8 and 9 to 12 as Senior Section. 

The Primary 1 & 2, category 1, had 14 schools as participants. Diya Prakash of DPS MIS became the champion speller. Aydin Muhammed of Podar Pearl School shared the second position with Eshan Khan of The Scholars International and Muhammad Abdul Gaffar of the Nobel International School. The third position was shared by Ahmed Hashim Vakkeparambil of MES Abu Hamour school and Zayaan Hazeeb of MES Indian School. 

The Primary 3 to 5 Section -Category 2 BPS Spell Casters had 14 schools participating in the competition. 

Anamika Sanjeev from Ideal Indian School bagged the third position. The second position was shared by Aishah Saayid Rahim from Rajagiri Public School and Kayden Gonsalves from MES Indian School, Abu Hamour. Ayman Hossain from Noble International School was the Champion Speller for Category 2.

The Middle Section -Category 3 BPS Spell Casters started off with the first round, Incantation Round and then moved on to the second Round, free choice round and then the third round, Rapid Fire Round. 

After elimination, two contestants Dishaa Sharma of Rajagiri Public School and Nishitha Jithesh of Birla Public School shared the third position, Aaryan Sujith of DPS-Modern Indian School bagged the Second Position and Saqib Anil of Podar Pearl School was the Champion Speller for Category 3. 

The Secondary Section Category IV Spell Casters started off with the first round, Incantation Round. 

After elimination, two students went into the second round. Tejaswi Manoj of DPS-Modern Indian School bagged the second position and Darla Ailyn Shaji of MES Indian School was the Champion Speller. The third position was shared by three contestants, Fahad Ali of MES Indian School (MESIS), Gauri Parvati of Rajagiri Public School and Advik Jain of Birla Public School.
