Switzerland's new gas consumption regulations may result in jail time
(MENAFN) In light of the growing energy crisis in Europe, Switzerland intends to take harsh action against residents who disobey the new regulations that is going to be in place this winter to control gas use.
According to a report by the Swiss newspaper Blick, those who break the new laws may be subject to penalties or possibly up to three years in jail.
The new Swiss regulations allow for a maximum temperature increase of 19 degrees Celsius (66.2 degrees Fahrenheit) in buildings with gas heating systems and a maximum temperature increase of 60 degrees Celsius for water (140 degrees Fahrenheit). Saunas and pools must stay cold, and radiant heaters are not permitted.

According to Markus Sporndli, a spokesperson for the Federal Department of Finance, the daily cost for fines may range between USD30 and 3,000 Swiss Francs.
