Jassim And Hamad Bin Jassim Charitable Foundation Celebrates The International Day Of Humanitarian Action

The celebration of the World Humanitarian Day, which falls on August 19 of each year, represents an ideal opportunity to review the humanitarian role and the noble positions adopted by the State of Qatar at the governmental and institutional levels towards needy communities around the world and the communities that face severe humanitarian crises. 

During the past few years, the State of Qatar has played a prominent role in supporting various international efforts that deal with many international humanitarian problems and crises. This role was represented by the support of the government and through Qatari charitable institutions to contribute to the international efforts aimed at containing economic and social crises.

Qatari humanitarian interventions always come to meet people's needs during crises that resulted from the spread of the pandemic and natural calamities.

There is no doubt that the role played by the State institutions working in this regard have represented a pioneering and innovative model in dealing with humanitarian crises around the world by emphasizing the needs for implementing various humanitarian projects that include sustainability factors that intend to have the greatest impact in the medium and long term.

In this context, the Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation, since its inception in 2001 and under the directives of His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani, the founding member, has established an innovative approach in the field of charitable and humanitarian work, relying on its own resources and with support of His Excellency to materialize the objectives based on the two standards of health and education, which constitute the Foundation's vision of 'Health and Education for a Better Life'. 

The Foundation's vision of health and education contributes to the crystallization of an advanced model of humanitarian work standards capable not only of providing temporary solutions, but rather to development specifications with sustainable impacts on the situation of the many needy people or affected communities around the world.

Empowering Communities

On this occasion, Saeed Muthkar Al-Hajri, CEO of Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Charitable Foundation, expressed the Foundation's keenness to make the anniversary of this World Humanitarian Day a motive for more charitable and humanitarian efforts to support the aspirations of needy communities around the world.“The Support which aims to make the needy societies enjoy a decent life and enable them to meet their daily requirements and enable them to formulate the means of their renaissance.” 

Al-Hajri also expressed his pride on the role played by the various charitable institutions in the State of Qatar under the umbrella of the Charitable Works Authority, congratulating everyone on this day, which is a day that makes it clear to the whole world that the State of Qatar was and still represents one of the most important symbols for supporting and humanitarian work on the international scene.

The CEO emphasized the prominent humanitarian role played by Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Charitable Foundation at the local and international levels by dedicating its development approach to implementing many pioneering projects in the fields of housing, health and education in a number of countries in Asia and Africa.

Over the past 20 years, and since the establishment of the Foundation, more than QR540m have been provided through humanitarian aids, and about 13 million people have benefited from it around the world.

These projects were characterized by diversity, as the Foundation took the initiative to participate in the establishment of entire residential villages, the most important of which is the city of Sheikh Jassim in Sri Lanka, as well as the construction of hospitals and primary health centers.

Along these the Foundation established centres for dialysis and others concerned with the rehabilitation and care of people with disabilities. Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation made great efforts during the coronavirus pandemic at the local and international levels, which cost QR12.8m during 2020. 

On the educational level, the Foundation established many schools and educational institutes and vocational and industrial training centers, due to the belief of the Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation that healthier and educated societies will be able to produce a sustainable renaissance and will be capable to scale up and keep pace with the changing needs of the times.

Sustainable impact

The Foundation's CEO, Saeed Mudhakr Al-Hajri reviewed implementation of a number of influential projects by the Foundation, foremost of which is the Hamad Bin Jassim Center for Integrated Rehabilitation Care in the Gaza Strip which entered into service during the past year. 

The project is a vivid example of the quality of health projects implemented by the Foundation, and the great social value resulting from its services, especially as it focuses on people with disabilities to empower them in society.

Other projects include Sharifa Hospital in Marrakesh, Kingdom of Morocco, and Sheikh Jassim Hospital in Pakistan. 

On the educational aspect, the Foundation took the initiative to build educational complex in the Harare area in the city of Jhang in the Punjab province in Pakistan. The complex consists of two schools, one for girls and the other for boys. The two schools provide with educational opportunities for approximately 1,200 male and female students. 

The Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation also celebrated during the year 2021 the graduation of the first batch of students from the Hamad bin Jassim Institute for Industrial Training in the state of Maharashtra in India, and graduates' entry into the labor market within their regions. The institute made qualitative contribution to the reduction of unemployment among young people. 

The Foundation also continues to support the work of the Sheikh Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani Primary Health Care Center in Azraq Camp in the Kingdom of Jordan.

QR203,000 worth aid given by Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charity to families and needy individuals in July 2022

The charitable initiatives and projects are sustainable because they are self-financed

The Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation has revealed that aid amounting to QR203,000 was disbursed domestically during the past month of July.

The aid provided varied from cash to in-kind assistance.

This monthly and continuous aid is provided throughout the year due to the great attention that the Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation attaches to supporting projects and initiatives in Qatar, which occupies a large place on the Charity's priority map, based on its social responsibilities in line with its efforts to enhance its vision of“Health and Education for a Better Life.”

The charitable initiatives and projects implemented by Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation are sustainable because they are self-financing, and devote in their orientations the principle of social solidarity, by ensuring continuous social assistance to needy individuals and families and alleviating the financial burdens they face.
