Foundation Stone Laid For Earthquake Shelters In Southeastern Afghanistan

Construction on 1,000 houses for the earthquake victims in Paktika province has reportedly started, according to the Taliban government authorities, following the deadly earthquakes that shook the southeastern regions of Afghanistan to their very core and left many dead and injured, as well as homeless.

According to the Bakhtar state news agency, controlled by the Taliban, these residential structures' foundation stones were laid on Friday the 19th of August, in the Barmal district of Paktika province in southeastern Afghanistan.

According to the Taliban government's State Ministry for Disaster Management authorities, more than 1,000 permanent housing for the victims affected by the devastating earthquakes will soon start to be built in other Paktika province's affected districts.

According to media speculation, the United Nations and the Agency for Humanitarian and Development Assistance for Afghanistan (AHDAA) organization will cover the expense of constructing these shelters for Afghanistan's earthquake-stricken and impoverished people.

For 25 families devastated by the recent deadly earthquakes in Paktika province, southeast Afghanistan, the Rashid Khan Foundation, established by Afghan cricketer Rashid Khan Arman, is also erecting residential structures.

There were many fatalities and severe property damage in various districts in the provinces of Paktika and Khost in southeast Afghanistan. A devastating earthquake struck in June, and many displaced people are still living in the open.
