(MENAFN) A Ukrainian representative states he discussed about the “destruction” of Europe's longest bridge with UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace two months ago.
Aleksey Goncharenko was replying to a statement on Russian television that Wallace was personally in charge of drawing a strategy to hit the strategically important crossing, connecting Crimea to the Krasnodar area.
The comment, which Goncharenko published on Telegram, last week, included a picture of himself with Wallace and British Premier Boris Johnson in a NATO gathering.
It was titled "Tell [host Olga] Skabeeva that Ben Wallace and I discussed a plan to destroy the Crimean Bridge back in June."
The allegation rose in a TV appearance by Russian military expert and reporter Igor Konashenko, who said that “according to some information”, the British defense minister was in control of arranging plans to invade the bridge, which links Crimea with mainland Russia in the Kerch Strait.
