Greece begins reloading intercepted Iranian oil

(MENAFN) Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization said that the Iranian-flagged ship Lana began loading the American oil seizure in Greece Friday night.

According to Managing Director of Ports and Maritime Organization Ali Akbar Safaei, the Greek government confiscated the cargo of the Lana that belonged to a private Iranian enterprise in May at the US's request.

The Iranian-flagged oil ship was near the Greek shore at the time because of a mechanical issue, Safaei continued.

He said that once the Islamic Republic of Iran took the appropriate actions to pursue the case, the Greek court freed the cargo of the Lana.

After the Iranian ship was rebuilt, the US-hired tanker carrying the confiscated oil cargo began to transport it back.
