Chinese smartphone sales are increasing in Russia

(MENAFN) According to the Kommersant daily on Thursday, which cited industry data, Chinese brands have displaced Apple and Samsung as the top global sellers to make up the majority of the Russian smartphone market.

The study noted that Xiaomi, along with the Poco sub-brand, sold the most smartphones in Russia last month, recording the biggest increase among its Chinese competitors. Realme, an Android-based smartphone brand with headquarters in Shenzhen, held 17% of the Russian smartphone market by sales as of July, up from 13.4% a month earlier.

Data revealed that since the imposition of Western sanctions, sales of American and Korean brands have decreased in Russia. Samsung, once the market leader, held just 8.5% of the market by sales as of July, while Apple held 7% of the market. According to data, the supply volumes of Apple and Samsung phones have dropped by almost 90% since the year's beginning. Prior to that, based on sales, shipment volume, and revenue, the two companies accounted for nearly half of the Russian smartphone market.
