The excitement surrounding the Qatar World Cup

The World Cup is a time when people come together and rejoice in the beauty of football. It brings people from all different walks of life together and people are able to put their differences behind them for football. This is undoubtedly the case for watching your country at the biggest tournament in the world and that sense of excitement is no different when you are talking about the Qatar World Cup 2022.

The decision behind choosing Qatar

There has been controversy surrounding the decision of giving Qatar the world cup for many reasons. With issues surrounding human rights, money bribes with FIFA, the fact it will not be played in the European summer and the fact that Qatar does not have much interest in the sport of football in general; the national sport is handball.

However, the decision was made in 2010 that Qatar will be the first Middle Eastern country to host the World Cup and that the World Cup will be played in the winter months between November and December.

What to look forward to?

As with any World Cup, there is always the excitement that the best players from around the world will be playing in one country. With so much talent in the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane, Kevin De Bruyne and Virgil Van Dijk all expected to be at the World Cup it could be a bumper year in terms of World Cup quality.

It could also be the last ever tournament for some of the best-ever players ever to grace the game. With Sergio Ramos, Luis Suarez and Neymar all into their 30s, they could be making their final World Cup appearance. However, there are two players who will certainly be making their last ever appearance at the World Cup and that is arguably the two best players in the World over the past 15 years.

Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will certainly take their international bow between this World Cup and the next one in 2026 in North America. With Messi going to be 39 and Ronaldo 41, it is highly unlikely that we will ever see these two at a World Cup again.

Qatar is accommodating

With more rumours suggesting that it will not be hospitable in the country but it will be far from those rumours. The people of Qatar are welcoming and follow their culture strongly. However, they have stated that some aspects of Western culture will be accepted in certain areas of the country.

In Qatar, the culture is an exotic mix of past and future: the fascinating ancient traditions and the facilities of an ultramodern world.

Stadiums at the World Cup

The stadiums have an “ultramodern” feel to them. With eight stadiums being used at the tournament there will be a fresh feel to them as well as all of them apart from the Khalifa International Stadium have all been built specifically for the World Cup. However, even the Khalifa International Stadium has had a very expensive refurbishment.

The eight stadiums will be:

  • Lusali Stadium
  • Al Bayt Stadium
  • Al Janoub Stadium
  • Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium
  • Khalifa International Stadium
  • Education City Stadium
  • Stadium 974
  • Al Thumama Stadium

The Lusali Stadium will be used for the final and will hold 80,000 fans.

History being made

Qatar will be the first Arabic country to host a World Cup and they will certainly put on a spectacle for the fans travelling from all over the world.

As it will be too hot in the summer, the winter months are better for players but it will still be incredibly hot for the players and fans. So to challenge that, all stadiums will be air-conditioned which is the first time this will happen at a World Cup.

This will also be the last time that 32 teams will compete at a World Cup and new betting sites will give you all the best football offers for the World Cup.
