Shmyhal Calls On World To Influence Russia So That Its Forces Leave Zaporizhia NPP
According to Ukrinform, he said this at a government meeting on Tuesday, August 9.
'The consequences of a potential disaster will be felt not only by Ukraine, but also by the whole world,' Shmyhal said.
In his opinion, the mining of the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and provocative shelling carried out by Russian troops should receive an appropriate assessment.
'Russia should receive the status of a state sponsor of terrorism. We are talking about this with all our partners, and above all with the United States, where such an initiative has already gained the support of Congress,' he added.
On August 8, the Russian army said it had mined the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant and was ready to blow it up.
On July 6, Ukrainian intelligence confirmed reports that the Russian army had mined the power units of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant.
On August 5 and 6, Russian forces shelled the site of the nuclear power plant. Rockets hit an area outside a dry storage site for spent nuclear fuel.
