(MENAFN) British Airways has blocked ticket sales for short-haul flights from London's Heathrow airport afore the middle of this month, after the airport's verdict to reduce capacity to tackle disruption and cancellations.

The IAG-owned airline stated on Tuesday that the sales suspension for local and European destinations was intended to leave volume for current customers to rebook flights if wanted.

The airline's website presented that no tickets for flights flying before August 16 to popular European destinations such as Paris, Milan as well as Amsterdam.

A British Airways representative refused to announce how long the sales halt would continue for, or the destinations affected.
