Turkish communications director: Greece fails to take Turkey’s offer for discussion

(MENAFN) The Greek administration directed by Kyriakos Mitsotakis was unsuccessful to take benefit of Turkey’s proposal for discussion, according to the Turkish communications director.

In a meeting with Greek day-to-day Kathimerini, issued on Sunday, Fahrettin Altun evaluated ties among Ankara and Athens, the ongoing conflict around the Aegean Sea, and the militarization of Eastern Aegean islands.

Altun stated that "Our president gave the Mitsotakis government a chance and opened channels for dialogue. The Greek prime Minister did not take advantage of this opportunity."

Altun stated that Turkey desires to have "good relations with all its neighbors and ensure peace and stability in the region."

Asked about opportunity of a discussion among Erdogan and Mitsotakis, Altun also stated that: "I do not think there will be such a meeting under the current conditions."

he stated that "Despite promising not to include third countries in bilateral relations, Mitsotakis gave anti-Türkiye messages in the US," also stating that "Greece only harms itself by opposing Türkiye self-interestedly or relying on third-party countries."
