Yemen Welcomes Removing Army From UN List Of Violations Against Children


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ADEN, July 12 (KUNA) -- Yemeni government welcomed late Monday the UN decision to remove its armed forces from the list of parties implicated in grave violations against children in the context of the armed conflict mentioned in the UN Secretary General's 2021 report.
In a statement, the Yemeni government said that the UN decision came in appreciation of the Yemeni government's efforts, mainly the action plan and roadmap signed with the UN, as well as instruction to prohibit the recruitment and use of all children in armed conflict, reported Yemen News Agency (SABA).
The government reaffirmed its keenness to take all measures to protect children and preserve their rights, and to limit the use and recruitment of children in armed conflict.
They also praised the continuous cooperation with the UN, and the Qatari team working in Yemen. (end)
