Russians coming for Europe, Zelensky says
(MENAFN) On the words of Ukrainian Leader Volodymyr Zelensky, Russia could use Ukraine as a starting point for assaults on other European states. He requested the West for security assurances that Ukraine could have while not being a part of the US-led military alliance NATO.
“We need a system of security guarantees, which would be effective even while we are not part of the alliance,” Zelensky stated at a discussion held by The Economist.
“Russia views the territory of our country as a foothold for capturing other European states. Which means, to ensure the security of Ukraine is to provide long-term security for the whole of Europe.”
He claimed that “gray zones” in European security helped Russia to send forces to Ukraine.
