UAE-based The Africa Institute selects Arcserve’s OneXafe to improve storage solutions, data security
(MENAFN- Innovatus) Dubai, UAE – June 26, 2022 – Arcserve, the world’s most experienced ransomware protection and unified data resilience platform provider, today announced that UAE-based The Africa Institute, an interdisciplinary academic research institute dedicated to the study, research, and documentation of Africa, has implemented Arcserve OneXafe to enhance its storage solutions and data security.
The Africa Institute has opted for OneXafe to assist the Institute’s planned expansion while guarding against modern threats such as ransomware. The new solution will help the Institute leverage scale-out immutable storage architecture technology, which will lead to improved scalability, a simplified data management process, and a substantially lower storage footprint. The solution has been in pilot stage for 21 months, and the return on investment and overall performance have exceeded the Institute’s expectations.

In a recent report , Gartner predicted that spending on security and risk management in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region would reach USD2.6 billion in 2022, an 11.2 per cent increase from 2021. Additionally, experts from the company noted that end-user spending is forecast to increase in all segments, with data security at 21.9 per cent.
Talking about the need to have a new storage solution, Sherif Nour, Head of IT and Academic Computing at The Africa Institute, said, “By 2024, we plan to move to a bigger campus and enrol many students for our academic programs. As part of this transition, we looked for an upgraded IT infrastructure to modernise operations. A new data storage technology that is cost-effective, scalable and flexible with data security features is a must.”
