(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, June 5 (KUNA) -- It is imperative to start a digital transformation to keep up with the meteoric advancements in technology, State Minister for Communication and Information Technology Affairs Rana Al-Fares said on Sunday, citing the move as a worthy long-term investment.
After the COVID-19 pandemic had turned the world upside down, the outbreak triggered soaring demand for digital assets as online virtual worlds skyrocketed in popularity, Al-Fares -- also Minister of State for Municipal Affairs -- told the third GCC conference on artificial intelligence and technology.
Accelerating the switch to digital means has now become a 'dire necessity,' the minister underlined, saying the digital industry was expected to remain on an upward trajectory given its appeal to young entrepreneurs and fledgling businesses.
The digital realm has surged in popularity across the Gulf region, including Oman, according to the Sultanate's ambassador to Kuwait Saleh Al-Khousi, saying the government there aimed to instill in youngsters a sense of technological knowhow.
The conference, held virtually, will continue until June 7th and gathers top decision makers and officials from the Gulf region. (end)
