In Riyadh, Brazil Wraps Up Mission To Arab Countries

São Paulo – The Brazilian mission led by the special secretary for Strategic Affairs of the Presidency of the Republic, Flávio Rocha , ended its trip to nine Arab countries this Thursday (2) in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia . Among the activities on Saudi soil, the Brazilian delegation, composed of representatives from the public and private sectors, participated in a seminar at the Ministry of Investment (MISA) to discuss investment opportunities between the countries.

After the activities, in a statement to the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), which took part in the delegation, Rocha said the mission was a success, and he felt very well received.“Many arrangements were made, and agreements will be closed with the contacts made during these 14 days of the mission,” he said. The mission's schedule started in Morocco on May 19, and the group also visited Egypt, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, and Bahrain , in addition to Saudi Arabia.

“We had a series of bilateral meetings, both in the defense sector and many others of the economy. I met with several government officials,” said the secretary. The special secretary said he relied on the ABCC to make all this happen.“From the first time we had the mission designated by president Jair Bolsonaro, I sought out Ambassador Osmar Chohfi [ABCC President] and his team, who have a solid presence here,” he said.



Solimeo: in Saudi Arabia

The seminar in which the Brazilian delegation participated in Riyadh was the Brazilian Investment Meeting and was attended by the Saudi Minister of Investment, Khalid Al Falih, and the vice-chair of the Federation of Saudi Councils (FSC), engineer Tariq Al-Haidari, among other leaders and authorities. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) information, the meeting discussed investments in food security, fertilizers , technology, and medicine.

During the visit of the Brazilian delegation to Saudi Arabia, the FSC also announced the formation of the Saudi representation in the Saudi-Brazilian Business Council and the appointment of members to its executive committee. According to information released by the SPA, it will be led by Mishaal bin Hathleen, who will work alongside Waad Abu Nayan and Badr Al-Busais. The mission in the country had the participation and support of the Brazilian ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Marcelo Della Nina.

Representing the ABCC, the head of the International Office in Dubai, Rafael Solimeo , and the director of Institutional Relations, Fernanda Baltazar , participated in visiting Arab nations. In addition to emphasizing the organization's work in the mission, Rocha acknowledged the support of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the embassies of each country, and the Ministry of Defense, which even provided the aircraft used on the trip. After completing the mission in the Arab countries, the secretary will proceed with a delegation to Eastern Europe.
