The official launch of Virgin Mobile Kuwait marks a key milestone in the company's regional expansion
Kuwait City, Kuwait: Virgin Mobile Middle East and Africa (VMMEA), the region's leading mobile virtual Network operator (MVNO), has officially launched its fully digital app-based proposition in Kuwait under the Virgin Mobile brand, expanding its footprint in the Middle East.
The launch has been eagerly anticipated by mobile users in the country following an announcement of VMMEA's partnership with Kuwait Telecommunications Company (stc) last year, making it the first MVNO to enter the market and the fourth service provider in the country. In line with the group's focus on sustainability, Virgin Mobile Kuwait customers will receive a biodegrable SIM card when they sign-up.
“When we first launched Virgin Mobile in the region, we set out to bring a truly digital experience for mobile users with innovation at its core to ultimately make mobile better and reimagine the way customers interact with their mobile services. Launching our operations in Kuwait with the support of our partners – Impulse International, Wafra and stc is another step in our regional expansion plans, bringing high-quality, digital services to the community,” commented Erik Dudman Nielsen, Founder & Group Chief Executive Officer at Virgin Mobile Middle East & Africa.
Digital innovation and sustainability form a key pillar of the New Kuwait 2035 vision which aims to drive economic diversification, transform enterprises and daily lives by 2035. Based on VMMEA's proprietary operator platform, Virgin Mobile Kuwait offers users a completely digital experience from a quick and easy setup to online payments.
Early registration of numbers has indicated strong appetite in the market for innovative new mobile services. Now that these services are live, the early registrants as well as new consumers can benefit from the Virgin Mobile experience.
Funding for the expansion into Kuwait was provided by Wafra International Investment Company, Impulse International for Telecommunications and Virgin Mobile Middle East and Africa.
